Craiker Designed Fire-rebuild featured by AIA Annual Home Tour

Chris Craiker AIA/NCARB and his team at Craiker Architects & Planners have been honored for their outstanding design of rebuilding a Napa home destroyed in the 2017 October firestorm. Five years to the month after the fire storm destroyed 600 homes, the American Institute of Architects East Bay will have its annual tour of outstanding architectural designs with unique challenges and solutions. This Atlas Peak home was burnt to the ground leaving only the foundations and retaining walls. The design featured a new residence on top of the foundation capturing eastern Atlas Peak views and Western vineyard sunsets. The new home is designed and built to be super-high fire resistant, water conserving and energy efficient.

The AIA East Bay only visits three or four homes a year and allows architects and future intern architects to visit, talk with the owners and architect about their challenges and solutions. The fall date has yet to be announced.

Napa Architect Designs Replacement Spire for Notre Dame Cathedral in Contest

Last month, images of the burning roof of Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris captured the world’s attention. Horrified by the devastation, yet also inspired, Napa architect Chris Craiker felt compelled to contribute to the efforts to rebuild the cathedral in a unique way. Working with his design team at Craiker & Associates, Craiker created his own version of a replacement spire for the famed cathedral.
